The briefmessage
M Mariaopening a place in Durham
Hi! We are opening a tiny Italian place. Could you build us a menu page? Warm and cosy, with our dishes and prices, and a button to book a table.

Selected work

Eight projects, designed and built. Two are live and in use, the rest are self-initiated builds we made to push the craft. Every one is real and clickable.

Our promise

What you can count on, in writing.

No surprises and no fine print. The same four promises on every project we take on.

  1. You own all of it

The code, the design, the files. Once the work is paid for it is yours to keep, host and change.

  2. A fixed price, agreed first

You get the whole number before any code is written, and it does not move on you.

  3. 14 days of free fixes

After launch we fix whatever needs fixing, no charge, for two weeks.

  4. You sign it off

We do not call it done until you are actually happy with it.

Services and pricing

What we make, and what it costs.

Clear starting prices, and a full quote before any code gets written. No hourly surprises and no scope creep. You agree the whole number first.

Let's talktell us the shape

A figure in warm amber light

We take the work personally.

Umber is a warm earth pigment, dug from the ground and fired darker. We named the studio after it because we like work with that kind of warmth in it.The name, in two pictures

02 How it works

From first chat to launch

Four steps, and you see real progress every week of the build. Nothing happens behind a curtain.

  1. 01

    Chat

Tell us the idea, the goal and the budget. The first call is just a conversation.

  2. 02

    Plan

We send a clear quote, a timeline and the scope, all agreed before we start.

  3. 03

    Build

We design and build it, and you see where it stands every week.

  4. 04

    Launch

Your site goes live with 14 days of free fixes after. New features are quoted on their own.

03

Two people, full attention

Umber is small on purpose. The two people you meet are the two people who design and build your site.

Nothing gets handed off to a junior or lost in a chain of account managers.

You talk straight to the two of us. We tell you what is realistic, we sweat the small stuff, and we treat your project the way we treat our own.

FAQ

Questions, before you ask them.

The things people usually want to know before they get in touch.

How much does a project cost?

Starting prices are in the section above. Every project then gets a full quote upfront, so you know the whole price, all of it, before we write a single line of code.

Who owns the code and the design?

You do, completely. Once the project is paid for, the code, design and assets are yours to keep, host and change however you like.

How long does it take?

A landing page is usually one to two weeks. A web app or MVP runs three to six weeks depending on scope. We agree the timeline before starting, and you see progress every week.

How many revisions do I get?

We work closely with you the whole way through, so big surprises are rare. Revisions happen as we go, and you also get 14 days of fixes after launch.

What if I do not like the result?

You see progress every week, so if something feels off we catch it and change it early. We do not call a project done until you have signed it off.

Do you offer ongoing support?

Yes. After the free 14-day fix window, we handle maintenance, updates and new features on a flexible basis. Reach out whenever you need us.

Got an idea worth building?

Tell us what you have in mind, and we will build the website your business actually needs. A reply within a day, then a clear quote before any code.
